In this project the client originally had a terrible layout with too much space between the perimeter and angled island. She still had the original 1950’s cabinets and not enough storage for all her cooking supplies. She is mom/grandma of a farming family and her kitchen is the daily landing spot for lunches and all gatherings. After some conversation she informed me that she would like to have a space where everyone could gather together for all meals and holidays while still being able to work in her kitchen without interference.
Since her Kitchen Aid mixer is such a vital appliance, we decided to build it in so she never had to lift or move it again. The final product allows for all the adults and grandchildren to be in one space for meals, ample space for all baking and canning, and the function she needs to easily move around her kitchen. We paired this kitchen up with LVP throughout the house for easy cleaning and durability, especially during harvest season. She and her family absolutely loves the new layout, abundant natural light, and ample sightlines.
