This project is a national historic landmark. Some of the obstacles we were trying to address were, a library that was not very utilized, alleviating congestion in the entrance hallway for coffee, and creating a gathering space where the congregation members could host bible studies and meetings. The first thing we did was create a coffee bar that was out of the entrance hallway, this drew people into the room and provided space where they could mingle and sit with their coffee prior to service starting. The “U” shaped sofa created a conversation pit for bible studies and meetings to occur along with a television mounted on the wall for any kind of video that may accompany the said gathering. The carpet on the floor served as a noise control to absorb some of the conversation that occurred in this space. The high-top tables have electric plugs built into them for anyone that wanted to charge their electronics as they utilized the space as well. “Connection Corner” as they have named it, is now one of the most visited rooms of the church.
